|OAS > PCEL - List of Planetary Close Encounters|
Last update: March 31, 2016
Computations by: Piero Sicoli , Francesco Manca (firstname.lastname@example.org).
This list includes multi-opposition minor planets with MOID (Minimum Orbital Intersection Distance) lower than 0.0100 relative to
planets Mercury, Venus and Mars using a Software developed at Sormano Observatory.
Their motions were integrated for the next two centuries (software by A. Testa, Sormano Observatory) in order to point out encounters within 0.0200 AU from each planet.
For the most interesting encounters, minimum (min) and maximum (max) miss distances in AU are then computed using the OrbFit Software Package. These values, based on a 3-sigma uncertainty confidence level, are reported at the left of the nominal result and a symbol " r " means that available radar observations have been included in the orbital solution.
A list of minor bodies with a nominal planet-miss distance within 0.5 million km (0.003342 AU), extracted from this page is available at CEIP. A similar list with close approaches to the Earth is available at TECA.
The following service, courtesy of the Minor Planet Center, is intended as support and in addition to the objects available in the PCEL list for which follow-up or recovery is needed. The service will return all objects based on criteria specified by the user.
